What is reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. As early as the 17th century Buddhist monks used it to heal themselves. It’s based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us, and when our life force energy is low, we can feel tired or unwell.
The Benefits of Reiki
The benefits of learning reiki are vast; they include but are not limited to: increased vitality, more positive emotions, better sleep patterns, reduced chronic pain symptoms and anxiety levels.
Reiki has been shown to be effective in treating mental illnesses such as depression and addiction disorders. In addition it has been used with success in cases of physical illness including cancer treatment side effects like fatigue, nausea or vomiting due to chemotherapy treatments.
What are the three degrees of Reiki training?
Some people do self-treatment every day. This is the first level of practice. The second level is when you work with other people and the third level is when you get a certificate. Each degree will be explored further below
- First degree is usually taught over a span of 8-12 hours. Students learn methods for optimal emotional, mental, and physical well-being through the practice of reiki in an active setting. Hands placements are used to offer healing Reiki to self or others. Healing may occur over a class period or more formal one-on-one sessions depending on need and individual circumstances. Health care professionals are offered the opportunity to learn about Reiki application in clinical settings. Topics such as history and precepts of Reiki are included, but students also learn how to become empowered conduits for Reiki energy by practicing it on others.First-degree training involves four initiations. For most beginner or family members who want to practice, First-degree training is what they need.
- Second degree is distant healing: Second degree students learn to replace hand-to-body contact with a mental connection in order to offer healing when touch is otherwise impossible or inappropriate. Second degree techniques can also be used by psychotherapists and physical therapists alike.
- Reiki Master in the 3rd Level. In the past, Reiki masters were only invited by invitation. This was because they would need to devote themselves for life in order to teach others how to practice Reiki.

So, not only will you learn how to help yourself or family members when they’re sick but you’ll also be able to offer this healing modality to your clients (or patients) who need assistance. You could even use it on animals!
